lol..i just have to say it because i know everyone that has ever even thought of having babies..well, for those that PLANNED babies anyway....(and i know this is off topic, i apologize.)

c, if you wait until you can HALFWAY afford them, you'll never have them. ever.

they cost you every spare penny you have, every spare moment, and most of your hair. they'll make you get wrinkles in places you didn't know you could get wrinkles, you'll look a little older than you really are. a lot of your clothes will get ruined. you're gonna be trippin over baby stuff everywhere. it's gonna feel like you've been invaded by the babybrigade. everything will be babybabybaby. you're gonna be lost. you'll screw up, you'll feel like the worlds worst parent, the kid will get scrapes and bruises. for a long time... it's all gonna be about the kid.

but:

the moment you see that baby, and see in the flesh, what your love has made, or the moment that child looks up at you, and recognizes the sound of your voice, or wraps those tiny fingers around yours...or you pick that child up, and you hear that soft breath, and feel it, tender and warm against your neck, and realize the huge responsibility that has been placed in your arms, and you realize how honored and humbled you are to have it...or the moment that baby smiles at you...or you see your spouse in the eyes of that child, or your nose, or your mom's mouth...any of that...

money won't matter anymore. if you have a baby, you'll find a way to get what you need. babies don't have to have all the best. they don't know what they're wearing. only YOU do.

i once read a book about a celeb, i don't recall who, but she'd never had kids. she talked about pulling up to a stoplight somewhere in her convertible. she was carefree, driving where ever her heart desired, pocketful of money. along side her at the light was a stationwagon with a mom and a bunch of kids. they were having a blast, and the mom looked so happy. the celeb realized that with all she had, couldn't buy her the look of the satisfaction she saw on the mothers face.

that always stuck with me. i may not have a lot of money, or a big career. but i make a memory everyday with my daughter. yesterday, it rained cats and dogs here. we went outside in the backyard and made mudpies. i'm sure the neighbors think i'm crazy, but that's something my daughter will never forget. she's only 9, and i can't give her a lot material things, but i can give her memories and my love. money can't buy that.

Well talk about being absent for a while. I can't even make a guess as to how long it's been since I've hit this board. This feels all nutty and nostalgic, particularly seeing other original havoc heads.
